Creating Heirlooms...

Photographers often tell me that they want to offer something special, with great quality to their clients. At PhotoPlus, this year I heard this request more than ever. I heard many statements of albums all looking the same. Needless to say, I consider it a great, great compliment that many photographers come to Cypress to fulfill this need of wanting something really special and of the highest quality. More than this wonderful compliment, it means that there is a movement back to getting an Heirloom, not just an album.

Yes, I am a romantic, but an Heirloom is so much more than an album or a book. An Heirloom, by definition, is something that is passed down for generations through family members or the

estate. Imagine grandkids and great grandkids learning about and seeing their family through the wonderful Heirloom that you are creating for them. I love thinking about the number of people who will have Cypress Heirlooms in their family. It is such an honor to be able to work at a more traditional bindery where Heirlooms are hand-crafted everyday by master artisans.

Hand-crafting Heirlooms is meticulous, careful work that we take very seriously. Creating Heirloom albums that you love is also something that we take very seriously and have a great passion for. We also love to design and create new products specifically for you. So if you have an idea, I am sure that we can create it for you. And, most importantly, I encourage everyone to create Heirlooms!

Hello Everyone!

The holiday season is quickly approaching and we are gearing up for a great season! In preparation, we have set the following deadlines to ensure FedEx Ground delivery by Christmas:

Nov. 10- The Cypress Album, The Iris Book, The Juniper Book, The Whistler Book, The Presentation Box

Please note this deadline does not include printing. For printing services with any of these albums, we must receive by Nov. 3.

Nov. 24- The Artisan Book, C Albums, The Folio, & Proof Boxes

Please note this deadline does not include printing. For printing services with any of these albums, we must receive by Nov. 17.

All orders received by the above dates will be delivered via FedEx Ground shipping and will arrive on or before Dec 22. Please note that our holiday deadlines are earlier this year to ensure Ground delivery. All orders received up to 5 business days after these dates will require Express delivery. Orders received beyond 5 business days will be Rush orders and will be accepted based on availability. Due to the high volume of orders, we recommend ordering as soon as possible in order to avoid the high cost of Express shipping. Our deadlines are the last possible date that we can receive the order to guarantee Ground shipping and delivery before Christmas. If your order needs to arrive before Dec 22, please contact us.

Rush orders will be taken based on availability after the deadlines have passed. There is a 50% surcharge for all rush orders. Please contact us with any questions. We look forward to a great holiday season and to creating some beautiful albums for you and your clients!

Those Special Moments...

Ahhh...to be a kid...playing, discovering, innocence, imagination, creativity. Kids have a wonderful magic about them that can light up any room at any moment. I love that so many parents collaborate with professional photographers to document and capture some of those amazing moments. My kids are now 7 and 3 years old and I love, love, love having albums of their images. We professionally photograph the family, with a focus on the kids, about every 1.5 years. And kids love looking at the albums too! Albums are an amazing gift for the family and the kids!

I just wanted to share some wonderful images of our great staff at Cypress. I am so grateful to get to work with such talented people. If you haven't visited us yet, it is a must! Choosing An Album...

Many people find it hard to choose an album. Consider these questions and suggestions when making your choice:

• Do you want to mount the images or do you want the bookbinder to mount?

Choose a self-mounted album if you want to mount the images and keep costs down. Choose a custom mounted album if you don't want to do any mounting.

• Choose a style that YOU love.

Couples are choosing you for your photography and your style. More often than not, they will like what you like. Simplify and stay consistent with your branding. This sends a message of confidence to your clients.

• Matted Album or Flush-Mounted Album?

Both of these styles are great, but each has a very different look. Matted albums are more traditional and allow the person viewing the images to enjoy each and every image. Each image is separated by a mat which visually slows the viewer while looking at the images. Flush-mounted albums have a smoother look in which all the images are on the same surface. This creates a visual flow that allows the viewer to look through the images at a faster pace. Matted Albums and Flush-mounted albums are both an excellent choice. Choose the style that you love and looks best with your images!

• How long do you want the album to last?

In today's market there are many choices, so this is an important question. If you want your client's albums to last for many generations, choose albums that hold actual photographic prints. Make sure the album is completely archival. Choose a reputable and knowledgeable bookbinder. The best quality albums are handcrafted. Lastly, visit your bookbinder and see their craftsmanship.

I love this combination of an old, rustic, chest with our elegant boxes on top. They both have this rich beauty. The color and texture of the Presentation Boxes and the old chest evoke warmth, history, the new and the old ...new beginnings. I could go on and on.... It's one of the things that I love about our products. You can place one of our Presentation Boxes on an old chest, a modern hand-crafted dresser, or a beautiful coffee table and when people see the box they will know that there is something special inside. A Great Little Book...

I just love this little 5x5 Iris Book with images by Jose Villa. The images are actual photographs that are mounted into the album. The book is constructed with fine art papers and archival materials. Each book is individually handcrafted to last a lifetime. Love This...

Here's a really great 12x12 Iris Book that we just completed for Morgan Lynn Photography. I just love the (3) 1x1 images that are mounted in the bottom right corner of the cover. It is so sophisticated, modern and timeless. It's beautiful, we wanted to give you a quick glimpse of this album. Wish we had a better image of book, but hopefully you can see there are so many ways to make your albums unique!

A Recent Order...

A special thank you to Prokopets Studio for these wonderful images of a recent order we created for them. I know I say this all of the time, but it's true. I love seeing all of your images and hearing all the stories. Besides being a mom, there isn't anything in the world that I would enjoy more than creating albums and presentation boxes. I still get excited about every album that we make! Enjoy!

The Whistler Book ....

We just love our new Whistler Book! ...And I love this wedding by A Bryan Photo too! The entire story that this album tells is just beautiful. The snowy, romantic wedding day at this small church in the country is stunning. There is a wonderful combination of simplicity, elegance and beauty that is contrasted with raw, natural, rustic materials. I just love the elegance of the bride and her dress against the snow with the barns in the background. Even the bride's snow boots are elegant!

The entire album feels so romantic with the images and the covers wrapped in an elegant bookbinding fabric and protected with our Cypress Presentation Box. I love the thought of their children someday opening this box and having this beautiful album unveil the beauty and story of their parents wedding day. Yes, once again I am a hopeless romantic!

Introducing The Magnolia Book...

Ahh...The Magnolia Book, so simple, rich and magical. The pages are made of 4-ply mat board with beveled-edge openings. The mats will highlight your photography as every image is viewed at a slow pace, enjoying each and every picture as you turn the page. This is a true fine art book!

The Details.....Available in 8x10 and 10x10 sizes in natural or white mats. Choose from any of our 18 different fabrics for your covers. There is a maximum of 15 pages/30 sides. Cypress will mount all the images. You can use the same size images as our 8x10 and 10x10 museum board mats.

Cypress at WPPI 2010...

We had such a great time at WPPI. We loved our new, larger booth space. As you can see, we were super busy. It was so great to be able to show alot more albums and sit down and talk with so many of you. What a great, fun show! We hope you enjoyed it too!
